Worked Oregon Counties AwardWhy Logging Software?CW in 7QP2009 Results2009 SoapboxBack...

“Alis Volat Propriis”

The Salem Amateur Radio Club recently started a "Worked Oregon Counties Award" program.    The award is titled “Alis Volat Propriis”, which is the Oregon state motto, meaning “She Flies With Her Own Wings”.    The motto also seems appropriate for an amateur radio award.    The background on the award certificate is a photograph of Mt.   Hood in northwestern Oregon.

Here are the rules for the award:

1.    Contacts must be made on or after January 1, 2007 and take place on authorized amateur frequencies only.

2.    Log extract data, verified with a statement of two officers of your local radio club, OR, the usual QSL card are acceptable.    The SARC Awards Manager may request QSL’s, or verification of log data from the Oregon amateur.

3.    There is a $3.00 fee for each award to cover printing and mailing costs.

4.    Contacts via repeaters, digipeaters, moon-bounce, satellites, packet, pactor, RTTY, and similar systems are acceptable, from any and all locations.    Which is to say that contacts made while mobile or portable in the State of Oregon are valid, and that travelers in Oregon can use repeater contacts anywhere in the state to work any of the counties.    This also means that the award is open to holders of Technician class licenses.    SWL’s can earn the award by hearing Oregon amateurs and getting the usual QSL or log extract verification from the Oregon amateur.

5.    Contacts with mobile, portable or fixed stations on county lines are valid as long as the QSL or log extract clearly states the counties involved.

6.    Endorsements for any band and/or mode combination are available.    For example, All 20 meter SSB, or All 2 meter FM Repeaters.

7.    Certificates will be issued in one numerical sequence regardless of any endorsement(s).

8.    The basic certificate can be issued for working 25 of Oregon’s 36 counties.    Endorsements can later be added for 30, and 36 counties.    County endorsements would not apply if the QSL’s or log data do not match any band or mode endorsements on the original certificate.    Which is to say that if the original award is 2 meter FM Repeaters the additional county endorsements would also have to be 2 meter FM Repeaters.

9.    Submissions should be made to:
