Ham Friendly Central Oregon

Thanks to our nearby Cascade mountains, Central Oregon enjoys a much drier climate than western Oregon, because 90% of the moisture from the Pacific Ocean stays on the west side of the mountains, or gets dumped on the mountains.   That's good for antennas!

Central Oregon has a thriving tourism industry in all seasons.   You can get to Mount Bachelor, one of the west's premier skiing venues, in less than 30 minutes from Bend.   Besides skiing, visitors come to our area for golfing, fishing, hiking, water sports, climbing, camping and many other forms of warm-weather recreation.

Although the population of Deschutes County has grown significantly over the past 20 years, there's still plenty of wide open spaces (hey, that's good for antennas too), and many aspects of the farming/ranching economy endure.
